{"id":7730,"date":"2016-02-19T10:49:38","date_gmt":"2016-02-19T10:49:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.guiding-architects.net\/es\/?p=7730"},"modified":"2016-02-19T16:03:19","modified_gmt":"2016-02-19T16:03:19","slug":"new-yorks-new-skyline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.guiding-architects.net\/es\/new-yorks-new-skyline\/","title":{"rendered":"New York\u2019s new skyline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York\u2019s skyline is changing again \u2013 on a colossal scale.<\/p>\n<p><strong>After the destruction of the Twin Towers in 2001 the skyline looked unfamiliar: the balance between midtown and downtown, which had existed since the 70s, was lost. The Empire State Building and the Chrysler Building again dominated the city \u2013 as they had in the 1930s.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And for a couple of years they were once again the only buildings topping the 1,000 feet (305 m) mark, only joined in 2007 and 2009 by Piano\u2019s New York Times Building and the Bank of America Tower by CookFox, also located in Midtown.<\/p>\n<p>While some of the holes in the Downtown skyline have been filled since then \u2013 by Gehry\u2019s residential skyscraper next to the Brooklyn Bridge (870 ft) and two of the four new World Trade Center buildings (1776 ft and 978 ft) &#8211; the major changes are happening in Midtown. Along 57th Street \u2013 the so-called \u201cbillionaire\u2019s row\u201d &#8211; one new stick-like super-tall tower is built next to the other: de Portzamparc\u2019s and Vinoly\u2019s buildings have reached their full heights, soon to be joined by three further towers over 1000 ft designed by SHoP, Smith + Gill and Handel Architects.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7715\" src=\"http:\/\/www.guiding-architects.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/guiding-architects-new-york-skyline-2-900x421.jpg\" alt=\"Guiding Architects | New York skyline\" width=\"900\" height=\"421\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.guiding-architects.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/guiding-architects-new-york-skyline-2-900x421.jpg 900w, https:\/\/old.guiding-architects.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/guiding-architects-new-york-skyline-2-768x359.jpg 768w, https:\/\/old.guiding-architects.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/guiding-architects-new-york-skyline-2-450x210.jpg 450w, https:\/\/old.guiding-architects.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/guiding-architects-new-york-skyline-2.jpg 945w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>These buildings are not only changing the skyline, but also Central Park forever, as they cast their long shadows over it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-7716\" src=\"http:\/\/www.guiding-architects.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/guiding-architects-new-york-skyline-3-900x350.jpg\" alt=\"Guiding Architects | New York skyline\" width=\"900\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.guiding-architects.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/guiding-architects-new-york-skyline-3-900x350.jpg 900w, https:\/\/old.guiding-architects.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/guiding-architects-new-york-skyline-3-768x298.jpg 768w, https:\/\/old.guiding-architects.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/guiding-architects-new-york-skyline-3-1024x398.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/old.guiding-architects.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/guiding-architects-new-york-skyline-3-450x175.jpg 450w, https:\/\/old.guiding-architects.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/guiding-architects-new-york-skyline-3.jpg 1151w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In the next years the skyline will continue to change rapidly as the construction of six new skyscrapers is underway at Hudson Yards and further are planned for Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn Downtown.
